Using this website

This website is my location in cyberspace, where I offer my compositions and commentary on the Christian scriptures, and am absolutely delighted to make these writings available to you. On this site, I’ve introduced myself to you in “Sheldon’s story”...my purpose of the site in “Why this website”...and so that you might understand my orthodoxy, I’ve written the page titled: “Statement of Faith”. I have also included my autobiography entitled: “A Lifetime of the Journey”. This “auto bio” is for your reading entertainment, but it just might inspire you in your own life’s journey, as you read of my ups & downs through the course of seventy-five years.

    The purpose of this blog is to explain to you the use of my commentary writings. As the word “commentary” implies...it is not meant to be used in place of your reading the scriptures; it is my offer to travel along with you, as you read your Bible. Consider it our “remote fellowship” in the Word of God.

    So---how to use:

--First, open your Bible. Choose the book you wish to study, and see if I have corresponding study notes to that book. (Sixty-six books in the Bible...I’ve read them all, just didn’t get to write commentary on them all. Life is short 😐 )

--With most of the books, I begin with an italicized paragraph or page, which serves as an introduction to our study. This will finally lead to the entry: “Chapter 1”

--Then as you proceed with your scripture reading, you will notice in my commentary---numbers before a paragraph, such as 1)...or 1, 2)...or 1-5). These refer to the corresponding verses from the book’s chapter. After you read a passage, here comes our time to “fellowship together” in the Word, as you read my comments on that passage. All my New Testament commentaries, as well as most of my Old Testament writings follow this pattern. There are some of the Old Testament prophets where I skim over certain chapters, as we search for the central theme of the scriptures---the coming of the Messiah...Jesus Christ.

--When we get to the last book of the Bible: Revelation...it is titled: “The Glory of Christ and His Church”. It is so titled, because we will look at this book of eschatology as it pertains to Christ’s covenant people: the Church.

--There are other studies of mine I’m posting here, and I’ll offer any specifics on them in their own introductions.
